What happens when you're making a game?

How do games work? How do they know that when I press these buttons to show that image on the screen? How do they know what image to show next?

We'll be taking a high-level look at what is required for a computer or console or phone to show you a game that reacts to what you do.

Once we understand roughly what's going on, we'll have a look at how to do that ourselves and some basic examples. We'll quickly see that making a game requires a wide variety of skills. Do you need all of them, and if you don't, what skills do you need? What about getting a job making games?
