Learn about what makes games fun and how to design your own tabletop game!

This workshop will introduce you to the world of games design, looking at how professionals make their games fun and engaging. You’ll learn about some of the jobs available, how to playtest games and finally how to make your own.

No prior experience required. This event is interactive and will involve working in pairs or small groups.

10am: Recommended for ages 8+

2pm: Recommended for ages 10+ and those with SEND requirements.

Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult.

The View, The Forum

Thom Barratt is a game designer and educator. He has been teaching Games Design since 2016, working with industry professionals to design assignments and curricular. Thom is particularly interested in difficulty (drawing on experience with differentiation in teaching) and creating games that provide engaging experiences for time-poor gamers.

Thom is a deaf aware teacher, comfortable using live captioning and some BSL signs.
