Create, play and take home your own paper-based game in just one hour.

In this hands-on workshop, participants will design and build their very own paper-based game from scratch – and then play it!

Working individually or in small groups, you’ll explore the core building blocks of game design: goals, rules, challenges and player choice.

Starting with a simple theme and a blank sheet of paper, you’ll create a board, cards, characters, or score system using pens, dice and everyday craft materials. Along the way, you’ll test your game, get feedback and make quick improvements just like real game designers.

The session is designed to be accessible, creative and fun for all ages. Whether you enjoy drawing, storytelling, puzzles, or competition, there’s a way to bring your ideas to life. By the end of the hour, you’ll have a complete playable game to take home and share with friends and family.

Recommended for ages 8+. Perfect for young creators, families and anyone curious about how games are made – no screens, no coding, just imagination and paper!

Anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Parents and carers are welcome to take part in the session - you will need to book a ticket. Younger children may benefit from this workshop if working directly with a parent / carer.

Parents and carers accompanying children do not need to book a ticket, but are required to stay for the duration of the activity.

Tickets £8
